We took the boys for their first haircuts yesterday. It started out as a very stressful, not so fun experience. I had planned to take them to Great Clips because they told me they will cut little kids hair. So we headed out, in the rain, for Great Clips. When we got there, there were already people waiting....mostly older men which didn't give me a warm fuzzy about them cutting little boy's hair. Then before I had a chance to make it to the receptionists desk she starts yelling out in a not so friendly tone to me from across the room "What can I do for you?". So I told her and she proceeded to ask me all my information from across the room!! Very strange and uncomfortable! After she collected all the information she needed, she told us it would be about 30-45 minutes!! I wasn't expecting to wait that long, but since we were at the mall, we decided to go walk around while we waited.
Well, after we got into the mall, Chris and I talked and I told him that the receptionist's rude and unfriendly attitude made me not want to get the boys' hair cut there. This was supposed to be a fun, exciting thing and my mood was going down the drain in a hurry. I was afraid they wouldn't be accomodating to wiggly 1 year olds and have no patience.
As we were walking, we passed a Master Cuts and they were just opening so we asked them if they would cut little kids hair and they did. So we went there instead and they did an awesome job!! Camden went first and he sat in the chair all by himself. I was so shocked; I was prepared for tantrums and crying and having to hold them on our laps. But he just sat there like such a big boy (having his paci probably helped some!) and let her snip away. Then it was Braeden's turn and he did an awesome job as well. We got some snacks out for him and he busily ate his snacks. He moved around a bit more than Camden, but that's just Braeden, he can't sit still! He decided to take the stylist's comb and was combing his hair while she was cutting it....and then he wanted to comb her hair!!! It was so cute and she loved it.
All in all, the experience ended up very well. She saved their hair in envelopes for us and labeled them and she also gave us first haircut certificates for their baby books. I was very happy that we ended up at Master Cuts instead of Great Clips....I just don't think the experience would have been as good.
